AGM 2007 - Stratford, ON Wed. Oct 3, 2007 |

Dear Member Festivals, The OMFA AGM has been booked for Wed. Oct. 3, 2007 in Stratford, ON. Details about times and accommodations are available from mail@omfa.info, but you may wish to plan to arrive on Tues. Oct 2 and be fresh for the Wednesday AGM and workshops. We have been able to procure a limited number of tickets for either/both of two shows at the Stratford Festival: Oklahoma! (Tues. evening Oct. 2) and/or The One and Only (Wed. evening Oct. 3). Ticket price is $75 per person, per show. If you would like tickets, PLEASE CONTACT PAM IMMEDIATELY. As of SEPT 6, 2007, there are only a few of these specially reserved tickets left for each show, reserved in A+ seating for OMFA AGM participants, and they will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. When they are gone, they are gone! Registration forms and Notices of Motion have been sent out to all festivals. Representation from all member festivals is important! Besides critical discussions about Syllabus requirements, the 2007 Provincial Music Festival (location not yet confirmed) and the 2008 National Music Festival (being held in Edmonton in August, 2009), the AGM will offer discourse on many other issues that directly affect YOU and YOUR FESTIVAL. We will again be holding valuable workshops to meet the needs of the member festivals. Several possibilities being strongly considered for Workshops are as follows: 1. Fundraising/Grant writing 2. Another is specifically geared for Festival Administrators (by whatever title), all of whom can benefit from networking with other festival administrators to help sort out ideas and problems--please consider sending YOUR festival administrator(s) to this workshop. 3. Yet another is the holding of a ROUND TABLE discussion about myriad issues from member festivals--you are NOT ALONE! These discussions are always exciting, interesting and most valuable -- anything goes.
Other ideas are just coming to the table, but we would like to hear from YOU! What workshop(s) would you benefit from? OMFA is YOUR Provincial organisation - please support it with attendance and ideas.
And--did I mention "FUN"? We get a lot done at the AGM, but we also have fun! OMFA is a vibrant, growing organization of people just like you, who are interested in and understand the value of music festivals. Local festivals such as yours across Canada are working hard to promote music in their communities too. Come and learn how to network with them at the OMFA AGM. More details will follow shortly.
