Provincial Finals Competitions 2008

The location and date of the 2008 Provincial Finals Competitions has not yet been finalised, although it is expected to be around the same time of year as in the past, in the 2nd week of June, 2008.

Hello all!

I hope everyone has had a fabulous summer and that getting back to “the real world” of September hasn’t been to difficult a transition!

This e-mail will serve three purposes:
 

1. 2007 AGM Reminder
2. To update you on how Ontario did at the National Music Festival held in Moncton in August
3. Syllabus Changes

2007 AGM
I sent an e-mail to everyone at the beginning of the summer to give you information regarding this year’s AGM.  I still haven’t heard from many festivals and would ask that you respond to this e-mail regarding your intentions of attending.

I am attaching the Registration Form again for your reference. AGM Registration

The AGM will be held in Stratford, Ontario on Wednesday, October 3rd.

As an added bonus, Michele Boniface, who runs the Stratford festival, was able to get us tickets for two shows: Oklahoma! On Oct. 2nd and My One and Only on Oct. 3rd.  As of this date, there are still a few tickets available for each of these shows.  Tickets are only $75.00 and they are in “A+” seating.  As well, if you would like to book accommodations in Stratford, Michele was able to get us a great rate at a local hotel but needs to know as soon as possible if you would like to take advantage of this.

Thank you to those who have already sent in their registration forms and I hope the rest of you will consider joining us for this very worthwhile day.

2007 National Music Festival

We were lucky to be able to send a full slate of participants to this year’s Nationals.  They included:

Drew Santini (Stratford), Voice (placed 1st and was the Grand Award Winner!)
Hammers and Bows Trio: Laurissa Chitty, Lorna Heidt and Renee Kruisselbrink (Stratford)  Chamber (placed 1st)
Lara Deutsch (Ottawa)   Flute   (placed 2nd)
Alan Pawlowicz (Toronto)  Guitar (placed 2nd)
Arjun Gupta (London)    Trumpet
Mathew Walton (Barrie)   Piano
Yegee Lee (Toronto)   Violin

We would like to congratulate all of the competitors and their local festivals for making Ontario proud at the Nationals!  Please feel free to check out both the OMFA (www.omfa.info) and the FCMF (www.fcmf.org) websites to view pictures of this event!

Syllabus Changes
There were several changes made to the National Syllabus which affect us both Provincially and Locally.  In particular, two new choir classes were added and three others were amended.  So please take a look at the attached document carefully so that you can adjust your local syllabus accordingly.  It should also be pointed out that it was decided that only CD’s would be allowed to be submitted for taped entries. (i.e. no more cassette tapes).
